Starting your day with a nourishing breakfast is one of the best ways to support stable blood glucose and balanced hormones. This low carb granola recipe is naturally sweet from goji berries, rich in healthy fats, and free from added sugars. It’s the kind of breakfast that helps you feel satisfied, energised, and clear-headed without the mid-morning crash.
Why Choose a Low Carb Breakfast?
When you start the day with a high-sugar breakfast, your blood glucose spikes quickly and then drops, leaving you tired, irritable, and craving more sugar. This cycle can put stress on your hormones, particularly insulin and cortisol.
Choosing a low carb breakfast with nuts, seeds, and healthy fats supports:
More stable blood glucose throughout the day
Reduced sugar cravings
Improved hormone balance (especially important for women dealing with PMS, PCOS, or perimenopause)
Sustained energy and focus
This recipe is a simple, delicious way to start the day on the right note.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
400g almonds
200g cashews
100g coconut flakes (not desiccated!)
100g goji berries
60g cacao nibs
1 tsp. Himalayan salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. of nutmeg
1 tsp. of ginger
60g coconut oil
Directions:
Preheat oven to 150С.
Pulse the dry ingredients in a food processor until chopped.
Gently heat the coconut oil and pour over the dry mixture.
Then spread all of it across a lined roasting tin and put in the oven at 150C and give it a shake every 10 minutes until it's very very lightly browned. It should only need about 20 minutes.
Allow to cool before serving with the almond milk or greek yogurt and fresh berries.
How This Low Carb Granola Supports Hormones
The combination of healthy fats, fibre, and protein slows down glucose absorption and supports your adrenal and reproductive hormones. Magnesium-rich cacao nibs and antioxidant-packed goji berries add an extra boost for energy, mood, and skin health.
This recipe is especially helpful if you:
Struggle with sugar cravings
Experience mood swings or energy crashes
Are supporting hormone balance through diet
